The first thing to note is that the My Notes functionality is only available for users who have an Insights or Ultimate Subscription account.
If you don’t have access, then you will see a message informing you that you need to subscribe.
The rest of this article covers the functionality for users who do have access to My Notes.
Where can I find My Notes?
On the runner controls, there is a control called My Notes, displayed with the Racing Post+ icon.
If you have a note already saved for this runner, then an Orange dot will appear next to the My Notes control, otherwise it will be displayed as default.
What notes can I add?
When you select the My Notes control, there are four possible inputs.
- Notes input - allows you to add any information you wish on the runner, up to 255 characters.
- My Rating - allows you to add a rating to the runner. This field is restricted to three numbers.
- My Odds - allows you to add your own odds to the runner. This field must be a fractional (or use evs for 1/1)
- Shortlist - Allows you to tick the runner if you wish to shortlist it.
Once you have applied an input into any of those four fields and selected the Apply CTA, that will be saved against this race and will remain accessible until you either remove the note or that race is no longer accessible (which will be once the day of the race has passed).
What else do I need to know?
As referenced above, notes added directly to the racecard are no longer available once the date of the race has passed.
However, you can add Master comments at the Profile level for a particular race type, which will then be displayed on all racecards for that race type.
These can be set on the Notes tab of the Profile page. For example…
Then, when we open a Racecard, which includes that runner for the relevant racecard, then the “Master” profile comment will be pulled in, and any Rating will be adjusted for the weight the horse is due to carry…
The rating is adjust to 10st for Flat races and 12st for Jumps races. Using the example of Opera Ballo above, the rating of 121 was adjusted to 133 because the horse has a weight of 9st2lb. Therefore, 12lb is added to adjust for 10st.
There are four types of Profile Notes
Flat Turf & NHF: Any notes will be displayed for Flat Turf and NHF races.
Flat AW: Any notes will be displayed for Flat AW races.
Hurdle: Any notes will be displayed for Hurdle races.
Chase: Any notes will be displayed for Chase, Hunter Chase, Cross-Country races.
Replacing Racing Post Ratings with My Ratings
If you do use your own Ratings system, you also have the ability to replace the Racing Post Ratings on the Racecards with your own Ratings.
To do this, open up the Racecard settings, from the Settings control…
Then enable the My Ratings option…
Now, RPR will be replaced with MR and is displayed, as highlighted, if available.
Additionally, any ratings added to previous results will be displayed when viewing the Form, via the Racecard…
